Column density effect in photoionization and photoabsorption spectra

چکیده
In our effort to measure both the absorption and ionization spectra in a single experimental set-up, we have demonstrated that the column density not only affects strongly the structure profile of an atomic resonance but also alternates significantly the back ground cross sections in an ionization measurement. In addition, we present a procedure that, together with the peak cross sections estimated from the convoluted theoretical spectra for the lowest resonance of the He (1, 0)0 series, could effectively determine the energy resolution and the detailed characteristics of the monochromator (i.e., slit) function of a given light source. Column density and temperature effects on narrow resonance structure in atomic photoionization and photoabsorption
We present a joint experimental and theoretical investigation to resolve the discrepancy in the ratio of relative peak cross sections for narrow atomic resonances among various experimental spectra and also between theory and experiment. Our study includes an effort to measure both the absorption and ionization spectra in a single experimental set-up. We also present a careful analysis of the e...

متن کاملDeconvolution of Atomic Photoabsorption Spectra: a match between theory and experiment
We present in this paper an extension of a recently proposed deconvolution procedure to compare directly the theoretical and experimental spectrum of a doubly excited ultra-narrow and nearly symmetric resonance in atomic photoabsorption. Our discussion is based on a set of analytical relations in terms of the variations of i) the ratio between the resonance width Γ and the experimental energy r...
متن کامل1 Photoionization studies of C 2 H 5 I and C 6 H 6 perturbed by Ar and SF
We present photoionization spectra of C2H5I and C6H6 doped into Ar and SF6, and photoabsorption spectra of C2H5I doped into Ar. The observation of subthreshold photoionization in C2H5I/SF6 and C6H6/SF6 is discussed in terms of dopant (D)/perturber (P) interactions involving the excited state processes of D + P 6 D + P and D + P 6 [DP] + e, where D is a discrete Rydberg state of the dopant. The ...
متن کاملTotal photoabsorption cross sections with square integrable basis set
Photoionization cross-section and dynamic polarizabilities are important properties in areas such as optical refractivity and photoelectron spectra of free and adsorbed species. On the theoretical side, the main difficulty in determining the photoionization cross-section resides in the calculation of continuum wave functions. This can be done by explicit construction, which has the disadvantage...
